Peter Bixel – Team Leader
Peter’s priorities are the same as most of the clients he serves – family and farming. His farming and education experience make him the ideal choice to be our SciMax Solutions Advisory Team Leader with our focus on the business of farming.
He grew up on a farm in Ohio with popcorn, field corn, soybeans and wheat production. He even gets in some farming today. Peter graduated from Wilmington College with a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Business with a minor in Business Administration. He interned with Sygenta, NK Seeds, and Enterprise Rent A Car. Peter spent 5 years with a retail company in Ohio serving as location and sales manager for grain and agronomy.
With a motto of “work hard, play hard,” you’ll find Peter to be an excellent resource as you seek to maximize your precision farming business.

Rodney Legleiter – Advisory Team Member
Rodney hails from Nevada, Missouri where he grew up on a row crop and livestock farm and was very active in 4-H and FFA. Like the clients he helps, farming stayed in his blood. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Agriculture Economics from the University of Missouri.
He moved to Iowa in 1996 to pursue a career at Broshar Implement, a John Deere dealership in Kanawha, Iowa. He worked in all areas of the dealership with an emphasis in the precision agriculture department.
When he’s not helping clients with strategies to increase their yields, you’ll find Rodney busy with family activities, hunting, fishing, golf and boating.

Janie Imming – Advisory Team Member
Janie’s roots to agriculture run deep. She grew up near Storm Lake, IA, where the family farm produced corn, soybeans and operated a cow/calf herd. She is a May 2011 graduate of Iowa State University, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Studies and a minor in Agronomy.
Janie has learned the agronomy and precision ag business first hand, completing student internships at Hartung Bros. Inc. and Latham Hi-Tech Seeds. Before becoming a SciMax advisory team member, she was an agronomy specialist at MaxYield Cooperative.
Still a farm girl at heart, Janie likes to help out on the family farm in her spare time. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Eric Goodman – Advisory Team Member
Eric Goodman first joined SciMax Solutions in the spring of 2008 as an intern while he was completeing his degree in ag business from Hawkeye Community College. After graduation, the Whittemore native worked full-time for SciMax until September of 2010. He then accepted a job working full-time for a farmer in northern Iowa and also farmed some of his own acres.
During his time away, he missed interacting with growers and using the latest innovations in agriculture. When he had the chance to rejoin SciMax in 2013, he took the opportunity. Eric says that his time away helped him better understand the farmers side of the business and looks forward to providing practical, hands-on solutions for clients of SciMax.
Eric serves as the fire chief and as an emergency medical technician in Whittemore. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his niece and two nephews. A long-time baseball fan, Eric also likes to visit different baseball parks across the country.

Rachel Norby – Advisory Team Member Level 1
Rachel is the newest member of the SciMax Solutions team, graduating in May 2013 from Iowa State University. This winter, she helped out our team part-time, while she completed her Agronomy minor and Agricultural Studies degree.
Though she is just beginning her career, she is no stranger to agriculture or SciMax Solutions. During her internship at Latham Hi-Tech Seeds, she interacted frequently with our team on mutual projects. She also completed summer internships at Iowa State University Extension and as a crop scout at BMP Agronomics.
Growing up on a farm, Rachel understands the importance developing relationships with growers to utilize the latest technologies to help maximize their returns.
In her free time, she enjoys helping on the family farm, riding horses and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Richard “Rick” Vanden Heuvel – Exclusive consultant to SciMax Solutions
The scientific and technological advances in precision farming are increasing at an exponential rate. That’s why we teamed up Dr. Rick Vanden Heuvel, a nationally recognized expert in soil-applied and foliar fertilizer products and testing.
Rick founded VH Consulting, Inc in 2003, which provides services in the areas of product development for the fertilizer industry for soil-applied and foliar fertilizer products, variable rate fertilizer algorithms and soil testing services. An area of emphasis has been developing VRT-N algorithms for corn production to optimize N inputs for increased fertilizer efficiency while minimizing adverse environmental impacts. That’s why VH Consulting, Inc entered into an exclusive agreement with SciMax Solutions in 2010 for development of new N management programs.
He earned a B.S. in 1977 in Soil Science from the Univ. of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, an M.S. in Soil Fertility in 1980 from North Dakota State University, Fargo, N.D. and a Ph.D. in Soil Fertility in 1986 from the University of Illinois. He is a former Assistant Professor at the Univ. of Illinois, agronomist at Cenex Land O’ Lakes technical services and manager of AgriSource Laboratories. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota, Dept. of Soils, Water and Climate. Rick and his wife, Jean, have two grown sons.
