Corn plants have been stressed this spring with high winds and sand-blasting, causing damage to the plant tissue and allowing an entry point for disease.
Fungicide applications at VT-R1 have consistently proven a return on investment and should never be supplemented by a fungicide application at V5, but is this a year to add that second application at V5?
Application has been beneficial when following three objectives:
1.) Corn on corn
2.) Offensive hybrids
3.) Physical damage.
All must be considering in determining a fungicide application. Please talk with your agronomist about this if interested.
