Information Management to Maximize Your Yields

New Drift Reduction Rules on the Way

MaxYield CooperativeNew Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations governing spray applications are on the way. New and re-registered crop protection products will carry labels indicating required buffer-zones, and no spray areas around downwind field edges.

The EPA is working with manufacturers to calculate the zones, considering factors such as product type and application rate. You will be able to reduce buffer zone sizes by using documented drift reduction technology (DRT).

Approved DRT includes specially designed nozzles on sprayer equipment and use of drift-reducing adjuvants. The simplest way to reduce drift is to increase droplet size, but the efficacy of some products may be reduced when choosing that option. Following the proper steps means reducing drift, while optimizing product performance.
